Christmas at CNC

Ok so christmas outside in the cold foggy weather at 6 am isn't the most ideal spot to be, but hey I'm dedicated. I realize I haven't put anything up in a while but I haven't for good reason. 1. It's been raining for the last week none stop and not just a drizzle. 2. The weather played havoc with the Z so I was fearing the worst, such as a blown motor, broken trans, you know something along those lines. And yeah I over reacted but you would too if you heard the noises it was making. But it's fine so everything is once again right in the universe (well almost) but I digress.  So it's christmas and yes I was at a car show, it's amazing the dedication some people have to CNC (Cars and Coffee) I don't include myself because I'm still getting there.
I do have some slight updates for the Z too, nothing has been done yet but I will be able to start it soon with any luck but here is the list so far, call it a new year's resolution so to speak.
1. Repaint the Z with new theme...it's a surprise.
2. Pay for the Modern Motorsports Brake Brackets and get brake lines made.
3. Clean junkyard parts for the install

A few italians braved the weather to be there.

Steve's car coming in looked really cool with all the lights on..note to self get picture next time.

Yes it says hardcore on the motor...and incase your wondering check the video.

Santa was there and he drives a red Mazda 5.

I had forgotten that my Z said 240-Z across the windshield at one point.

Oh I also have video of one of the loudest Camaro's I've ever heard.

Nightmare on Elm Street Debut Movie Trailer [HD]

Here's the remake they didn't even use the song they play here in the preview nor the any of the music that was trademark for it, they tried to use a normal song and associate it with the movie which fell short.

Trailer - A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)

Nightmare On Elm St. one of the worst remakes ever! It seemed like they tried to make it more scary which kinda takes away from the humor that Freddy had. It also didn't really follow the original I know new directors have the right to do what the want but they changed the original story and the characters. Wes Craven didn't direct it he apparently didn't give his approval on this remake. The worst part was that they didn't even use Robert Englund as Freddy, which should have been a must. Here are the differences....

Junkyard Run..

Ok so I went to the junkyard today to get the calipers I stashed and.......they were gone. So Plan B get some more, two junkyards later I found some (ehh) ok ones, and some really good rotors so I may get the calipers but definately getting the rotors. While I was there I saw this and of course it was sold. Not a bad junkyard jem.

I also got my hair cut and while there decided to get it dyed too. So here is my new look.

Z Update...

Well today was fairly eventful (Zwise of course) got some good info for the Z and of things to come. The conversion brackets I got from Quang are a no go, why simple they seem to be for the early 280zx brakes which are big, ugly, expensive, and outdated. So the alternative is simple I'm ordering the Modern Motorsports brackets I'll have to wait longer but it will be worth it and I can prep the rest of the parts while I wait. I say that because buying the whole set from MM would cost 500-600 dollars and I can get the parts for way less. Junkyard rotors and calipers should set me back under $100 bucks and I can get steel braided lines made at Baker in Signal Hill.
These are the brackets the red ones are Quang's and the silver ones are MM.

While I was out and about I stopped at Mike's Z Shop in Whitter, CA (that's how I found out about the bracket). I also got some new info for modifying the Z some more, such as how to get it even lower 3/4" to be exact. I also noticed something that I had suspected earlier...that the brake master I have in the Z now is the smaller one (the 240z one) which is 7/8 rather than the 15/16 one (280z/280zx) like I had been told. That explains why although the car has better brakes it still stops like shit.

Mark (the owner's Mark even though the shop's name is Mike's go figure) did have some nice cars parked out front one of which he is very proud of and I don't blame him. It is a early Nissan Gloria RHD and it doesn't look like a whole lot but I can see the potential in it.

Beautiful Datsun 1600 Roadster

And finally as I was heading home to call it a day I caught the attention of a unsuspecting tuner/ricer (take your pick).  Sitting at the light to turn left to get to my apartment I heard a slight rev not thinking to much of it I casually looked around thinking it was the beat up beetle I saw a few minutes before. Nope it turned out to be a civic and if right about now your wondering why I even mention this rather than just ignore it the answer is simple, my license plate frame. I made it years ago for my RX-7 an just recently put it on my Z....it reads as follows "Stupid tuners civics are for chicks", the light turned green and I made my turn only to hear the civic launch hard whining the stuffing out of his motor so to shut him up I keep it in second gear and took it up to 6 and a half letting him know what was up, and calmly turn down my street to go home.

Picked up a few parts for a friends Z. A half dash cap and the front bumper brackets for the 73 240z.

Old Track Photos

Yeah Me! Why you ask simple I still have the picture cd I bought (Yes I bought it) the first time I went to the track.  So here are some of the shots not a lot of variety sadly but nice pictures none the less.  This is my second RX-7 running with a borrowed racing seat, borrowed rims (the tires are mine), and well....well thats it. Oh and a Pep Boys Motorcycle helmet. The S-R on the window stands for (S) Street Class and (R) Rear wheel Drive.

I wish I could get this kinda fitment on a normal basis!

MR2 giving me the point by

And everyone wonders why I have my necklace on the rearview....cheap gravity ball.

When Z's Unite

So I was talking and comment back and forth on Facebook (yeah I know) and realized I had a good amount of cruise pictures sitting in an email for the last few months. I broke down and decided to post them, this drive started in Newport and ended in Irvine not real long but fun none the less. These are some good guys and two of them have gotten or are going to get rid of thier Z's to move onto other things.

Good Times....

Junkyard Run

I stopped by the junkyard yesterday to see if i could track down a few parts for the Z. Mainly to upgrade the wipers and rear brakes, I was half successful. I found 240sx calipers like I wanted and they were in good shape too, but no avail on the wiper motor. The info I've found on classic z car says that I can use a 91 civic motor, unfortunately I didn't see any at the junkyard. Another problem I may face is that the brake calipers seem to mount differently than the mounts I have if that's the case then I will upgrade to the Modern Motorsports brackets. I also need to price out the 280z/280zx brake master. I know MSA sells it but it cost an arm and a leg so I'm going to be looking at autoparts stores and hope for the best.

Z Life..

So here's an update on the Z and a little bit extra. Friday I ended up leaving work earlier (yes I know bad) but I wasn't feeling well and figured it was best.  Ran the basic errands after I left bills and stuff also picked up the ignition swich I needed from NAPA part #KS6673 and with tax set me back $31.74, installed it and now the Z starts with no problem. Also got a price on a Holley Fuel Pressure Regulator #12-803 and that's about 30 also, but I will get that in a few weeks. The Z is supposed to have a pressure range of 7psi and the regulator is adjustable from 4-9psi so that should take care of the excessive fuel coming from the carbs.
So, I got a notice from Downey saying that my FC was in the impound which was strange since I traded it for my Z about a year ago now, but I investigated with the help of a friend. Turns out it was picked up and I don't have any obligation anyway but was still surprised to get the notice in the first place.
While I was out today I stopped by Quang's shop and tried out his JDM Fairlady Z grill but while test fitting it I stripped one of the grill bolts so I was unable to fit it properly so next time, I also don't have a grill on the Z now (sigh). However I did get some new toys but it will have to stay a surprise until next time.

Cars & Coffee

If you live in Orange County then you've heard of this, but I once read that people have heard about this on the east coast too. Either way Cars and Coffee is a car meet/ show that happens every saturday in Irvine at Mazda HQ. It starts at around 6am and ends at either 8 or 9am I forget, but it usually consist of a wide variety of cars. Meaning if you like it chances are it's there; classic muscle, classic euro, new euro, new muscle, factory kit cars, and supercars.

Jaguar's Electric Prototype?

Oh, while it wasn't there today I had to include it this Jaguar is amazing looking.
